Patreon launched!!

So I launched my Patreon campaign last night.  I’m wicked excited about this, as the $5 tier is receiving a new chapter of my story.  I’m trying to write a serial and this is my first time doing it.  So I’m hoping this ends up meeting expectations.  It’s called Lacey’s Story and I had posted part of it previously.

I’m hoping to get pledges so that I’m having to sit down and write and produce, but also so that I can sit down, write, and produce without having to worry about how I could be using the time to make money to pay bills or buy food.

I also put together a Facebook Page to help promote myself.  The whole thing seems very weird to me, but I really would like to be able to dedicate more time to writing and improving my work. Updates to this blog also appear there.  Feel free to give me a “Like” if you wish to keep up with what I’m doing.

Red Meat?

One of my health issues is that my muscles cramp and spasm ALL THE TIME.  There is rarely a time where I don’t have a muscle balled up or twitching. But the weird thing is this: I’ve noticed that the muscles in my legs spasm less if I eat red meat.  I’m still twitching and stuff, but I’m able to actually lay down without my legs twitching the entire night or having the muscles in my throat and face lock when I’m eating. (Yup, try eating when you everything locks when you swallow – guess how many times I’ve started to choke…)

I can’t find anything that would give me answers to why this is.  All I can find is posts and articles on why you WOULDN’T EAT red meat for these issues.  I can’t really afford to buy beef a lot, so I only will go out and buy it if I’m in a lot of pain or the spasms are getting worse. I do tend to eat steak subs and hamburgers when I can afford them, as it does help in keeping the muscle issues at bay.  But it’s expensive.

I would love to have an idea of what this is, so that I can let my neurologist know about it.

One Step at a Time

So I just created my author page on Facebook.

Yay!

I’m going to try to really get down and be serious about this whole being a writer thing.  I have ideas, and it’s time I start getting them out there.  One of the things I’d like to do is write serial stories.  I’m going to post them on Patreon once I can figure out how to use that.  That one will have to be an adult content page because of the nature of some of the things that I write.

This post is really just an experiment to see if I did it right and if this will now post an update on FB.

Big things are coming folks.  I can feel it.

Thoughts on Money and Things

In the past few months, I’ve filled out almost a hundred applications, I’ve gone to about ten interviews and I’m still not getting anything.  I’ve applied to full time positions in my store, but nothing.  I’m sort of at the end of my rope.

I’m going to try to do some grocery delivery for InstaCart but I’m worried because the income may make me lose my benefits from the state and I do need a secondary insurance.  Which is the most important part of getting a full time job.

I’m battling fatigue badly, which is also what worries me about doing this delivery work.  I can barely keep my eyes open right now but I have hours scheduled from 5-7pm because that was what I could grab today.  It’s after dark too.  I can’t drive well then. Also grocery stores give me anxiety.  Badly.

I don’t know what else to do at this time, because I can’t even afford my meds.  I need to renew my insulin, my antidepressant, the fiber pills, and the pills that keep the food in my stomach and not in the toilet.  There is no money for that.  But if I make extra money, I’ll lose my food stamps and possibly the QMB that pays my Medicare premiums and such.

This worry is effecting my mood more and my ability to write.

I feel hopeless.  And no another pill isn’t going to fix that.

It’s Cold

We had a winter storm this weekend and now with the wind chill it is colder in my state than it is in Alaska.  Since it snowed, I had to go move my car from the parking lot of the apartment complex so that the lot can be plowed.  I hadn’t checked the weather yet so when I got out it, it was so cold that I ran to my car and hopped in.  Thank goodness for heated seats!

I then had to go get the car after they plowed.  I was prepared this time for the -20 degree wind chill.  I then went out again to run some errands.  Now that I’m home, I’m not leaving again for the rest of the day.  Brrr.

Also my apartment seems to have a draft, I’ve concluded its coming from the door to the hallway.  I guess I’m just going to have to deal with it, but it’s making the entire unit cold.

Late Night Musings

So as you can tell, I did not go to bed, and Murder Kitty is currently wandering around my room, randomly biting me, and mewing that it’s bed time.  Sometimes it amazes me how much her name fits her.  She was originally supposed to be called Miss Kitty, but a friend said that it sounded like I had given up on life.  I had, but I wasn’t going to admit that, so she became Miss Murder (From the AFI song… please say you’re old enough to know what I’m talking about … so many of the young folks I say this to give me a blank stare), and hey, she responds to it.

I’m trying to write a page or two since WP gave me some material and an idea to work with.  And here I am writing, but not writing what I need to.  My brain is just all out of sorts right now.  I’m bothered by money issues, housing issues, bills, and dealing with my health.

Happy Late Christmas

I hope everyone that celebrates Christmas had a great day yesterday.

I know that not everyone has a good day on Christmas, and usually I’m one of them.  I haven’t been able to celebrate with my family in eight years or so.  I work jobs that don’t let me have the time off, or neither my family nor I can afford to get me down to them.  It’s not so much that I mind being alone, but it’d be nice to have a visitor or sort to break up the nothing-is-open-stuck-at-home day.  There was one year where my dog and I were spirited away to a friend’s and spent the day with her family.  That was a good year.

This year I was invited to spend the day with my cousins and Great-Aunt.  I had a good time.  Got caught in a Nerf gun fight, had a great dinner – the pop overs were to die for, and was really touched to receive a gift card so I could buy groceries.  I got to chat with my cousin who lives across the country with her husband.  I got to spend time with my younger cousins that I babysat way back when – they are ALL taller than me now.  I had a good time.

It’s now past Christmas and I’m sitting here writing this, and trying to settle down enough to write a few pages before attempting to get sleep again.  My brain is now firmly convinced that bed time cannot come before 3 am.  I’m starting to just accept that a few hours of ‘rest’ is a perfectly good substitute for sleep.

I hope everyone had a good day yesterday, and if not, I hope today was better.

Cottage Pie

I’m running low on fresh groceries and I don’t have any money even though it’s pay day.  I barely made enough to cover rent, and there is not enough to cover my car payment.  Or for my phone.  Or to buy groceries.  So I needed to think of something to make that would last a few days.  My freezer does have a few packages of meats that I got on sale.  This is what I decided to make with the ground turkey.

I have a Ninja Chopper, so I used it to mince up an onion, about 3 cloves of garlic, and carrots.  I put that in the pan to start to cook while I defrosted the turkey.  Which I added to mix and cooked up.  I added salt, pepper, an Italian seasoning mix, and a little chili powder.  Once it was cooked up, I drained and put into my small casserole dish.  I added a cup of frozen peas and mixed that into it.  A can of creamed corn was layered on top.

I made the instant mashed potatoes according to the package and layered them on top.  Topped that with salt, pepper, and paprika.  I let it bake for 15 minutes, took it out, and sprinkled shredded cheese on top.  This one I used was a cheddar and Swiss mixture.  I let that go back in the oven for 5 minutes and then took it out.  Served with a side of salad.

This should be enough for a few dinners/lunches for work.  I’m hoping it should last me until Christmas. I have frozen burritos that I made and froze last week for variety.  I do need to think of some thing quick and easy for breakfasts.

I hope you enjoyed this peek into how I feed myself on about $100 a month.
